Welcome to Employment Agency Tulsa interviewing my heroes, my Cory Minter, the founder and CEO of Trinity employment specialists. Hi, my name is Cory Minter and I am here with David Edens in this podcast title. This is our very first one that we’re doing and it’s titled interviewing my heroes. And there’s a reason why I brought David on here and that is because David is probably the most, uh, an important and impactful mentor in, in my life right now. Now, I’m not going to lie to you. He’s pretty cantankerous sometimes and I have a feeling, in fact, I’m a little scared about what might come out of this. And I’m, I’m being vague. I know, but listen, the, the reason I want to tell you why, why I’m wanting to do this, you know, I th I’m wanting to add value to people who are just not getting started out. David. Um, you know, for a long time I, until I reached a certain level of success, there was people that would not spend time with me and, and just to, to mentor me, coach me. You know, what, whatever’s going on. And, uh, after having the opportunity to be able to do that, I started noticing the drastic difference it made. And so there, there was someone here that works here, his name’s Ethan, and he does another podcast with, with me. And I wanted to be able to share with him some of the knowledge and wisdom that you give me. And, and so that’s, that’s the reason and I believe that it’s going to help a lot of young Employment Agency Tulsa entrepreneurs is what I’m wanting to do. And there are all sorts of podcasts, man, they offer such great advice. You know, you’ve got Tim Ferriss, who does that mentoring book that he does. But one of the things that I noticed, there’s really great wisdom and not hardly any information about what it is in the life of a man who tries to follow Christ.

And that’s the difference that I’m wanting to do. That’s why you’re here, dude. You mean a lot to me. Thank you so much for being here. Please don’t make fun of me right now. All right. All right. Yeah. So, um, this is what I’m going to do. I just want to get started. I want to interview you and just start out, tell me a little bit about your Employment Agency Tulsa business or tell them about it. I know about it, but tell them about your business and really how you got started when and just a little bit about your story. Well, we own Aiden structural and Tulsa, Oklahoma, and we actually traveled throughout the country working for big reads and uh, we’ve got crews of that list live in town and work in town all the time. Uh, but what I’ve taught my people, my culture is, uh, to serve people. It’s not about how much we can make, but it’s about how much we can serve. What, like when, when you got, when you got started, what did that look like? A mess would be, didn’t you? Hold on, didn’t you start out with your best friend in that? How you got started? Yes. What, what, what did, what did that look like? Were you guys working together? What was the Employment Agency Tulsa deal? Well, it was actually my dad. Yeah, it was my father. I didn’t know that it was my dad and uh, yeah, it was, but it was a mess. I mean, you know, family partnerships are messy and you’ve taught me that you have to do that. Okay. That’s good. I’m glad you’ve learned. Yeah.Well, um, what, what are some books or if there’s just like one or two books that you’ve either given an an as a gift or that you would advise, there’ve been a couple that you’ve given me, but like just for, just for other people here, what are like one of the top two that you would recommend to people and why?

Well, um, I think if you’re a businessman and you’re starting and you’re trying to kick it off and make everything happen and everything’s coming at you like a S like an avalanche, um, get the book of Proverbs. Just read the book of Proverbs. There’s 31 Proverbs. There’s 31 days or close to 31 days and every month just get up every morning and just the book of Proverbs, whatever today is today’s what, 21st, uh, 21st proper to them, you know, and just get in that habit. It’s going to give you wisdom. It’s going to give you insight about how to handle yourself, how to handle others, how to deal with people. And I’m really, I don’t like to read a lot of books unless they’re technical, uh, because I don’t need someone else’s opinion. Uh, I have my own opinions. You think just a little, just a little. So dude, you don’t know this about me. I don’t think I’ve ever shared this with you, but, um, did you know that the only way that I got started is I started reading this book. It’s, but, uh, John Elderidge, in fact, it’s, it’s right down over there right now. It’s called the richest man who ever lived. And it’s talking about the King Solomon who wrote Proverbs. And really, truly, um, I went to the coffee shop just right down here in the street and started reading this book. And it taught me how to understand Proverbs. And one thing that I’ve told people I didn’t know that you would recommend that I swear to you. Yeah. But I know that it taught me how to learn Proverbs and Proverbs teaches you how to be rich. And I don’t want anyone to go out and go, well I’m going to reach, I’m going to read Proverbs cause I want to be rich.

Cause that you’re missing the entire point. Right. But that was where I learned David, the lesson that if I saw somebody drop a $5 bill, that I’d made the decision in my head, that one I was just going to do the right thing, but I was going to go ahead and tell the person. And before that was a real conversation that was going to go down in my head. And over time it showed me how to do my business. I can’t, can’t believe that you said that. I did not expect that. Um, my, my next question is, um, and this is just completely different in awkward. I don’t even know what you’re going to think about this. Um, what purchase of $100 or less has most positively impacted your life in the last six months? Well, I know some ugly people and I know some stupid people. Listen, you’re getting ready to get it. I see it on his face. Go ahead. You need to buy him some condoms. They don’t need to re, you know, the, we’ve don’t need any more of that. Well, I told you, man, it’s probably not going to stop. All right, scratch that Employment Agency Tulsa question. Um, I’m, I, I hope I’m, I’m excited about this. Next one. How has Phil, your failure or apparent failure set you up for success later on? Like, do you have any stories about that? [inaudible] failure makes you a lot stronger failure. Uh, you know, failures used the right way. It certainly can be a launching pad. Um, I told you to turn off your cell phone for you. Come in on this dad gun deal. I, you know, I, uh, I don’t like failure, but failure is a part of life. Um, you know, a lot of things, you know, in my life. Um, you know, I’ve had a son that was killed in an auto accident on my Harley. Uh, certainly as a parent, I felt like a failure. I felt like I didn’t protect my child even though he was 22 years old at the time. Um, I’ve had a son that was an addict, you know, I mean, I live a, a crush centered life, but, uh, trouble comes, failures come, things happen in life and it’s what you do with it. It’s easily going to make you bitter or better. And I’ve always chose to be better, not bitter.
