You are listening to Trinity. Employment’s a player matchmaker podcast, starring your host and the cofounder of Trinity employment specialists, Cory Minter. Hello, and welcome back to the show

Player matchmakers. We’re always trying to find different ways to add value to job seekers and employers. And this particular podcast is titled recruitment best practices. During this COVID change that we are dealing with, um, right now in recruitment is, has changed all over. Um, you’ve got to put different efforts into it. Um, you’ve got to interview differently because most of, most of our interviews are going to be via zoom. And, you know, you’ve got just masks everywhere, fear everywhere. Um, I’ve noticed the impact that I’m seeing that social media is putting on everyone, just the negativity that’s coming out of really good people, by the way. It’s really interesting. It’s not just interesting. It’s really sad. But I’ve noticed that people who spend a lot of time on social media, which is almost everyone these days, um, they are just living a, uh, a lower, like a less joyful life, I guess you get the top Tulsa Medical Staffing around.

I guess you could say that. And when you are recruiting each one of our candidates is likely experiencing some version of this. It stinks, but it’s the case and things are changing. So what are some of the best practices that we can do to just be effective during this time? You know, some sections of our economy have been hit hard by the coronavirus. Listen, I’ve got good buddies who their companies have sore during this. Um, a good friend of mine owns a couple of Chick-fil-A’s and they have increased by 30% and they can’t even have anyone in the store or at least last time I talked to him, they didn’t. Um, but there, there are some people that are really doing very well. Uh, many companies are still hiring, including those in the retail customer service healthcare industries just picked up by the way when it comes to you with our great Tulsa Medical Staffing.

And I know that well because Trinity is a very large healthcare producer, um, for recruitment. And while many companies are hiring, the fact remains that most people aren’t going to an office anymore to conduct business much fewer interviews. Social distancing has forced recruiters management and their teams to work from home and just change things. So I just want to talk about some of the things that you can do now to recruit top talent in conduct business during this pain. Dimmick the thing is his job interviews have changed. Once a prospective employee has been found, you know, before we just bring them in, let’s talk to them. But now the first major step the recruiter is is to interview the candidate. Um, because we’re working outside of the office and people are keeping their distance interviews aren’t happening at the corporate office anymore. Instead, recruiters who hope to thrive, they better figure out this video interview thing.

I don’t like it. I don’t know why. I don’t know why, but if I am in person with someone right in front of me and I can engage in eye contact, I know you can do that over the screen. I get it. But there is something that you’re able to see and understand and almost feel that helps you with your consistency of evaluating a person. I really believe that listen, that’s just me, but I’ll tell you that we have a new level of Tulsa Medical Staffing for you and your company, if you go to less of a personal type of an individual, meaning their personality traits and their gifting is more in, you know, numbers analyzing that sort of thing. I’ve noticed that many recruiters that have these gifts, they really do well with video interviews at no problem at all. In fact, they would prefer it. They don’t have to be around people and it’s like big apparel for them.

Even my wife, who really doesn’t prefer to be around people. They love this. This is great, but you know, it’s not for everyone. And it is for some people, I just thought I’d throw that in. But there are many online video apps that your office can turn, turn on when it comes to interviewing candidates and the programs allow you to send professional invites, connect seamlessly, you know, you’ve got zoom, uh, you know, even Slack. We have Microsoft meetings. We have all sorts of different things, but if you’re a recruiter, who’s new to video interviews, you’re going to need to properly prepare for this new experience. I want you to know that I do a zoom call every day or every Friday and every single Friday. There’s something that isn’t working properly with. Someone’s equipment every single Friday. Now we’ve done enough zoom calls for a lifetime since April we’re in, we’re in July right now with our top Tulsa Medical Staffing services.

And, but still every Friday, there’s some kind of an issue with someone’s computer, with the connection, with the camera, with the sound, with the, how it shows up on the screen with it. You know, every update that you get, it changes things a little bit. And so if you’re a recruiter, the number one thing that I would suggest is, you know, of course, get familiar and all that stuff, but, but number one, show up to the interview early, so that if there are any issues with your computer, with your connection, with anything you can, uh, you can make sure and handle it early on. Number two, finding the right fit. Now that you’ve got a means to speaking to your candidates, Toms, or find the right fit. Um, and we’re still living in a time where most people are working on their own or in a remote environment.

And some companies find that this works better. Some people don’t, um, but it’s important to find potential employees that have experienced working remotely because that’s going to be a big part of it. But let’s just be honest. I think it’s more important than if you’re going to hire a manager, the manager knows how to manage remotely. Managing is really a big difference. Um, you know, a person can log on at, you know, on their computer and stuff like that. It’s just that, you know, I don’t know why, but when I’m working at home, I have tendencies to want to wander to all these other things. Whereas when I’m at work, I’m here to work. When I’m at home, I’ve got a million things I can go do. Listen, I can go right now. It’s on my mind. I forgot to go water the plants. I need to go water the plants when it comes to the best Tulsa Medical Staffing around.

Let it takes me 20 minutes. Well, if I were at home, I guarantee you I’d find a way to figure out a way to water the plants and still get things done. I don’t know if that’s a good thing or a bad thing, but, um, it’s definitely a distraction. Um, you know, you’re going to have to figure out and include candidates, how they maintain a work-life balance so that they don’t go water the plants every 20 minutes. You know, the steps they take when they face a new problem, they’re all now alone. They don’t have a collaboration going on and not nearly as much. Sometimes that’s a good thing though, and how they overcome a slump in productivity with us and providing great Tulsa Medical Staffing. You need to see that people can stand on their own two feet here because they’re not going to have a manager there right. Available and ready to start encouraging them when they just sense that things aren’t going right.

Work ethic is so important, especially when you’re physically working at home. And during an interview, ask if they, if they have a quiet, clean and tidy place that they can go work, or they’re going to be working on their couch with the TV going and with distractions that you know, who knows the work environment should be similar to one that they’re going to have in their office with a proper desk, an ergonomic chair, where they can work for a long period of time without pain. It’s really important in the workplace should be well lit, orderly, ideal. You need to check out these things and ask them we really want to offer the best Tulsa Medical Staffing for your company today. Um, the last thing is, before we wrap up, is that um, your leadership and communication is really important. Finding the right candidates during these unique times, it’s only half the battle because once you find the best employee, you need to create a work environment that allows seamless communication.

So you can communicate quickly and easily and fluidly and the chance for everyone to thrive, even though a candidate might seem ideal, you don’t know how the person truly works until they get in the weeds. And you want to make sure that you have the person that you need, and you might consider hiring people on a temporary basis at first, and just see, are they going to be able to keep up when it comes to turning new hires in longterm employees, you know, effective leadership is key on day one, you’ve got to layout expectations goals for each employee. One of the things I mentioned in an earlier podcast is I’ll let our producing employees know exactly where they go gross profit is going to be when they break even. And they pay for their salary that way they know when they begin winning.

And when they’re draining the company of money, it’s really important to know that exact number. Um, you know, even though you are sitting side by side, managers need to be able to provide feedback, motivation and communicate really well and let them know when they’re doing well as an effective coaching opportunity. They need to be close enough with them that they can know when someone needs coaching when they don’t when they do not, your staff needs to be able to see that you have their best interest in mind and that you actually see effective communication is key when everyone else is working, someone else with our new Tulsa Medical Staffing services, somewhere else in teams should have daily or weekly meetings to discuss projects where we’re at and what are the details with it? We do that twice a week right now, technology helps us out so much in certain things like this we really want to offer the best Tulsa Medical Staffing around.

But as managers in, when we’re trying to manage staff and bring on the right staff, it’s really important to be thinking through some of the things that would be a little bit different of a thought pattern than what we had done before.
