The reason for this particular podcast is because I was interviewed yesterday for a new station at a channel eight K, T U L and I thought, Hey, what, what an interesting topic and this is the reason that this came up. Apparently Macy’s is getting ready to hire 5,000 new employees for the Tulsa area. Boy do I wish we had that account, but they’re getting ready to hire 5,000 people and in a low employment, the news channel was basically trying to figure out how in the world are they going to do this?
Is this even possible? What does the employment market really look like? And they actually did a really nice little segment about it. At least I was happy with it. You never really know when you go and do something for the news channel because you’re not the one editing it. They are and they do not really have a vested interest in making you look good. And so I thought the lady that did this yesterday, she was a great reporter and she actually did a really great job and I appreciate it. What’s it look like if you, if your, if you’ve got low unemployment, you know, is are things going to change? Like what, what should we do? Um, before I get started in this, I always like to invite people to go to our website and check out this podcast.

In fact, I was being told the other day by it, uh, an employee that they send a lot of people to our website because of the valuable content that’s on there. We have different ways to write resumes, all sorts of great content on there. So, um, I want to go ahead and get started on this particular topic. Um, and so the very first I’m going to jump into action items. Generally, I’m going to always read some statistics. But so if you in a low unemployment, these are just some things that you’re going to have to do because you have to change a little bit how you recruit. It’s just the only way that you can do it. You’re going to have to change and probably do a little bit more. The very first thing of doing more, and there this is a lot more, is go after passive candidates. What are passive candidates? Most recruiters are gonna know this, but passive candidates are people who are not actively out there looking for jobs all the time on the job websites. They’re not actively really engaged and trying to find a new job. But if you, if they were presented with an with a new opportunity, they would really be interested in hearing about it. So these are probably people that are not actively engaged in their job and they think that things might be better somewhere else or something like that.
And so these are the people that you’re going to be going after. And the only way of going after these, this group of people is by actively sending them emails, reaching out to them. Social media. You can use LinkedIn. There’s all sorts of different ways of going after passive candidates. But the biggest thing, and the reason I’m kind of giving you a lot of our playbook is because listen, it’s easy to say this kind of stuff, but putting together a system where you can do it well is very, very difficult. In fact, it’s taken us 10 years to create the system that we’ve created and we’re very good at at doing this, but it takes a lot of time as well. There’s a lot of time that is attributed to going after passive candidates and not a lot of companies have the ability and the HR bandwidth of human resources time to be able to go after a and recruit for the right people to get the top Medical Jobs Tulsa!
And so going after passive candidates is the best and, and most notorious way of combating a low unemployment rate. Um, the second thing is, is to build in promote your referral systems.
