And it’s interesting, the average person changes jobs 12 times during his or her career. Uh, workers age though impacted the number of jobs that they had in any period. So workers held a job how held an average of 5.5 jobs during the six year period when they were 18 to 24 years old. However, the number of jobs held declines with age workers held in an average of 4.5 jobs when they were 25 to 34 years old and 2.8 jobs when they were 35 to 44. So basically though, the reason that that is, it’s gotta be that when you’re younger, if you’re anything like me, I had no clue what I wanted to do. I knew what I thought I wanted to do and that was, that was about it. And good grief. It would be so nice to know then what I know now about myself.
And I think that’s pretty, pretty, uh, accurate with people. Um, during the most established phase of any worker’s career, ages 45 to 50 workers held an average of only 1.7 jobs. So as you get older, I think people start figuring out what they like and they’re just, they’re just not going to jump around nearly as much. Plus you’re not going to be at your growth stage. Um, you know, there is a sweet spot in your employment and probably starting in between, you know, uh, you’re 30, you know, 32, 33 to 40 some odd. That’s, that’s what stinks. I’m, I think I’m, I’m 44 and to think that, hey, I’m almost hitting the peak of my career and so it’s downhill from here. Um, is what some of statistics say or I’m just going to slow down. Um, but I just don’t think that’s the case because there is nothing that you can do to replace wisdom. Now if you are looking to find Medical Jobs Tulsa be sure to call us now!
Now there’s a lot of foolish things that we’ve all done and it’s all because of a lack of wisdom and with, with, um, some years on the, on experience, on a job comes a lot of wisdom. So before I get started, I have a couple of quotes that I think is really funny. Um, the first one is by Dr Seuss says, don’t cry because it’s over smile because it happened. The second was from Buddha says sunsets are proof that endings can be beautiful. Make a point to call us now at 918-622-2588 as soon as you can! That, that things that you can do is just don’t sweat the small stuff. You know, keep in mind, your first 90 days are just usually a transitional period for anyone just to find footing. So I’ve got eight tips to try to s you know, whether this first 90 days, that’s when you’re really going to begin to settle in. You know, I tell a lot of managers that um, our contract lasts for a little over 90 days. And the reason for that is because people can kind of hold it together for the first 90 days and then you start seeing how they’re going to behave for the next five years if you hold onto them. So that first 90 days is really, really important.
But don’t sweat the small stuff when you’re going through these things. The first thing is stay positive. You know, every career change is going to come with a variety of emotions and in fact there’s a lot of great articles, one that we just went through here at this company because we added some new staff, we grew a lot and we added a bunch of staff. Well listen, it was tough for that group to figure out who was where in there at first. It wasn’t a smooth transition. I hate to say it because I feel like we’re such a great group of people that work here. I really do think that they’re like family, but you know, there was some transition for us and it really wasn’t as much me because I’m, I’m kind of out of it over here in my little corner. But the team definitely had to figure out how to work together. Now that we went through that struggle, our team is firing on all four cylinders.
In fact, we just, we just finished our best quarter that we’ve ever had. But stay positive during that it, whether you’re not quite fitting in as quickly as you’d hoped or maybe your typical work speed hadn’t been up to where everybody else is because they know the system, you know, whatever the case, it’s really important. One of the things that people tell a mentor of mine taught me how to do, and that is to just be grateful because like, think about the things that you’re grateful for during that time period and a lot of that really helps you to stay positive, be grateful for the job, be grateful for the opportunity. Be grateful that you know this, this job is providing what it is for you. Um, be grateful for the opportunities that you might be having in this job. So stay positive. It really helps.
